Acushnet Conservation Commission Approves Morse's Lane Home, Farm Cleanup at January Meeting

ACUSHNET — January 15, 2026 — Acushnet Conservation Commission approves new home near Deep Brook and votes to allow abandoned farm cleanup. The commission voted unanimously at its January 15 meeting to issue an order of conditions for a single-family dwelling on Morse's Lane, filed by Morris Lane LLC and engineered by Niles Zaga of Zenith Consulting Engineers, authorizing construction within the 100-foot buffer zone to a bordering vegetated wetland and the 200-foot riparian zone of Deep Brook, with a 1,490-square-foot wetland crossing replication area and a concrete washout restriction set at 75 feet from the wetland boundary. By a 4-1 vote, the board also approved a request for determination for property owners James and Andrea Sousa to remove buildings, vehicles, and debris from an overgrown abandoned farm on Gammons Road within the buffer zone of Tinkham Brook. A solar energy project off Park Drive — a 4,999-kilowatt array filed by Copper Park Drive LLC — was continued to January 28 after the board determined that an extension request had never been separately placed on the agenda. Potential wetland violations at 7 Tillyway and 35 Hathaway Road, where a machine-dug trench was found in a bordering vegetated wetland, were also continued to January 28.
