Airport runway project, summer road work disrupt Mansfield traffic
MANSFIELD — Summer construction is reshaping travel around town this week, with major work underway at both the Mansfield Municipal Airport and on several town roadways, according to the town's official News Flash and homepage alerts.
TOWN HALL
The DPW-Highway Division has several construction projects scheduled for this summer, according to a Road Construction Notice posted to the town's News Flash feed on July 16. The notice did not specify exact locations or timelines beyond flagging the broader summer schedule.
Separately, the town issued a traffic advisory for the Mansfield Municipal Airport at 265 Fruit Street, where a major site improvement project began Monday, July 13. The work involves renovations and upgrades to the airport's runway and taxiway areas, and drivers in the vicinity should expect disruptions as the project continues.
The Town Manager is also organizing a series of community focus groups to gather resident feedback on topics affecting the community and the town's budget plan, per the town website. Additionally, the July 2026 Town Newsletter has been released featuring updates from town departments, boards, and committees, and the town's Information Technologies office circulated its latest cybersecurity communication this week, outlining a cyber scam scenario and how to resolve it.
Residents should also note that Phase III Water Restrictions remain in effect as of the town's alert center, a continuing constraint on outdoor water use townwide.
Several boards have meetings on tap in the coming days, including the Light Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, Historical Commission, Planning Board, and Conservation Commission.
SCHOOLS
Mansfield Public Schools' district news feed showed no new local announcements in this reporting window; recent postings on the district site were carried over from prior months.
