Dartmouth Conservation Commission Continues Two Commercial Site Hearings to June 23

DARTMOUTH — May 26, 2026 — Dartmouth Conservation Commission continues two commercial hearings and approves limited road paving at its May 26 meeting. The commission unanimously continued an after-the-fact Notice of Intent hearing for a car wash at 271 State Road — where new Environmental Affairs Coordinator Jennifer Miller told the applicant there is "really not a way around" restoring removed vegetated islands or providing equivalent stormwater infiltration in an aquifer protection zone — to June 23, pending multi-department design talks. A separate hearing on a proposed Audi and Volkswagen dealership at 0 State Road, a 9.76-acre development tied to an unbuilt wetland replication obligation from a 2021 or 2022 order of conditions, was also continued to June 23 to allow for a substitute third-party stormwater peer review after the commission's usual reviewer recused himself. A third hearing, for a convenience store and gas station stormwater system at 411 Faunce Corner Road, was continued at the applicant's request to the same date. The commission unanimously approved a determination allowing the town to repave approximately 600 linear feet plus about 100 linear feet near a failing timber culvert on the Round Hill Beach access road at 231 Smith Neck Road, deferring a full-road structural solution to a future project.
