Fall River Library Closes Saturdays, Shifts to Summer Schedule Starting This Week

The Fall River Public Library is flipping to its summer schedule this week, closing Saturdays through Labor Day — the most time-sensitive item in an otherwise quiet news cycle.

Beginning mid-June and running through Labor Day, library hours shift to Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays are now closed for the season. Patrons who rely on weekend visits should adjust their plans; the main branch is at 104 North Main St.

The library also has two new free or reduced-price museum passes available for booking: Norman Bird Sanctuary in Middletown, R.I., and House of the Seven Gables in Salem. Both join a roster that already includes aquariums, historic sites, and zoos accessible through the library's online pass reservation system.

For local-history readers, the library now offers digital access to the Fall River Herald News from 1926 through 1979, adding to an online collection that already includes historical maps, city directories, and yearbooks.
