Fall River Library Opens Summer Hours, Adds Two Museum Passes

The Fall River Public Library is shifting to summer hours beginning this week — with Saturdays now closed through Labor Day — and has added two new free or reduced-price museum passes to its collection, giving cardholders access to a Norman Bird Sanctuary in Middletown, R.I., and the House of the Seven Gables in Salem.

The library's summer schedule, running mid-June through Labor Day, keeps Monday through Thursday hours at 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and trims Friday to a 9 a.m.–4 p.m. close, while suspending Saturday service entirely. Residents who rely on weekend visits should plan accordingly.

On top of the schedule change, the library has expanded its museum pass program with two new venues: the Norman Bird Sanctuary in Middletown, R.I., and the House of the Seven Gables in Salem. The full roster of aquariums, historic sites, parks, and zoos available through the pass program is listed on the library's Museum Passes page at fallriverlibrary.org.

The library has also added online access to digitized editions of the Fall River Herald News spanning 1926 to 1979, rounding out a growing local history collection that already includes historical maps, yearbooks, and city directories. The archive is accessible through the library's Local History page without a special subscription.
