Forest Committee · Meeting of October 27, 2026

NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH — The North Attleborough Forest Committee voted to submit three capital improvement requests covering trail sculptures, accessibility paving and a possible fire hydrant near the town forest's dog park. Chairman Merton Greenish reported that a long-planned troll sculpture installation, the "Dambo Troll" project, remains delayed because the artist is booked until June 2029, with costs estimated between $500,000 and $650,000. A committee member said grant funding typically requires matching dollars the town does not have, noting "we don't have $300,000." Fire Chief Holman reported the committee's brush truck project finished near $54,000, under its $75,000 authorization, with the town forest account holding a balance of $42,089.24.

The committee also discussed habitat features like a hummingbird garden and mushroom garden, plus benches and trail accessibility work, as low-cost additions competing for the November capital budget cycle.
