Health Department Closes Falls and Whitings Ponds Over High Bacteria Levels
The town's Health Department has closed Falls and Whitings Ponds until further notice after testing found elevated bacteria levels, cutting off access to two of North Attleborough's most-used swimming spots in the middle of summer.
TOWN HALL
The closure notice, posted to the town's official News Flash system on Aug. 6, gives no estimate for when the ponds might reopen. The Health Department is monitoring water quality and has not detailed what is driving the bacteria spike. Residents are advised to stay out of the water at both ponds until the town lifts the order.
