Library Cancels Beach Story Time Over Heat, Air Quality

SWANSEA — Extreme heat and poor air quality prompted the Swansea Free Public Library to cancel its Beach Story Time program this week, even as the library presses ahead with its summer concert series and reading program.

The library called off Beach Story Time on Wednesday, July 15, citing the heat and air quality, according to a notice posted on its website. The library's regular building hours were unaffected: Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is closed Sundays.

The library's Summer Reading Program, which opened Monday, July 6, continues at the Main Street branch, and its Summer Concert Series resumes this week as well.
