Lizzie Borden House Earns National Ghost-Tour Nomination

The Lizzie Borden House in Fall River has landed in a national spotlight, earning nominations in USA Today's 10Best Readers' Choice contest, while City Hall continued work on infrastructure and planning items around town.

TOWN HALL

City officials continued to advance a handful of ongoing municipal projects this week, according to the town's News Flash feed. The city's Open Space and Recreation Draft Plan for 2026-2036 remains open for public review, giving residents a chance to weigh in on future park and recreation priorities. Also active is the FY25 draft Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER), which is available for public comment as the city documents how it has spent federal community development funds.

Separately, the city's Bulky Items Program is now available for online scheduling and payment, a convenience update for residents arranging large-item trash pickups. The Route 79-Davol Street corridor improvement project also remains an active infrastructure effort, with the city having previously announced final traffic configuration changes along Davol Street.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Fall River Public Library has added two new destinations to its museum pass program: the Norman Bird Sanctuary in Middletown, Rhode Island, and the House of the Seven Gables in Salem. Both passes are bookable now through the library's online reservation system for residents looking for free or reduced-price outings.

The library has also expanded its digital local history collection, adding online access to the Fall River Herald News archive spanning 1926 to 1979. Combined with existing historical maps, yearbooks, and city directories already available on the library's Local History page, the addition gives residents and researchers a deeper searchable record of the city's past. The library also recently added the Transparent Language database, offering free language-learning access to cardholders.
