Mansfield Airport Begins Runway and Taxiway Renovation Project

MANSFIELD — The Mansfield Municipal Airport kicked off a major runway and taxiway improvement project this week, one of several public works efforts converging on the town this summer alongside an active Phase III water restriction and a new round of Town Manager-led budget focus groups.

Construction crews began work Monday, July 13, at Mansfield Municipal Airport, 265 Fruit Street, on a major site-improvement project renovating and upgrading the runway and taxiway areas, according to a town traffic advisory. The town is also warning drivers of several DPW-Highway Division road construction projects scheduled across town this summer, per the department's road construction notice.

The Town Manager's office announced a series of community focus groups this summer to gather resident feedback on topics affecting the community and the town's budget plan, an effort officials are billing as "Join the Conversation." The town's Alert Center continues to flag a Phase III water restriction that took effect June 10 and remains in force, the most stringent tier of the town's outdoor watering rules. Separately, the town's Information Technologies office circulated its regular cybersecurity communication this week, walking residents through a real-world cyber-scam scenario and how to resolve it, and the July 2026 town newsletter was released with updates from departments, boards and committees.

Several town boards meet in the coming week: the Light Commission on Monday, July 20; the Zoning Board of Appeals (amended agenda) and the Historical Commission, both Tuesday, July 21; the Planning Board (amended agenda) on Wednesday, July 22; and the Conservation Commission (amended agenda) on Monday, July 27.
