Mansfield Moves to Phase III Water Restrictions Amid Summer Heat

MANSFIELD — The town has moved to Phase III water restrictions, its strictest conservation tier, as the Department of Public Works pushes ahead on a summer's worth of road work and a major overhaul of the runway and taxiway at Mansfield Municipal Airport.

The town's Alert Center is now flagging Phase III water restrictions, the toughest level of mandatory conservation measures Mansfield imposes, according to the notice posted on the town's website. The posting does not detail specific day-of-week or odd/even watering schedules beyond the restriction level itself, so residents should check the town's water restrictions page for the exact rules that now apply to their address.

Separately, the DPW-Highway Division has several road construction projects scheduled for this summer, the town said in a notice posted to its website. And at Mansfield Municipal Airport, 265 Fruit Street, crews began a major site improvement project on July 13 involving renovations and upgrades to the runway and taxiway areas, a project expected to continue disrupting airport operations through the construction period.

COMING UP

Four town panels are scheduled to meet in the week ahead. The School Committee's Policy Subcommittee and the Conservation Commission, which is meeting on an amended agenda, are both set for Monday, July 27. The Parks & Recreation Commission meets Tuesday, July 28, followed by the School Committee's School Needs Assessment Subcommittee on Wednesday, July 29.
