Rehoboth Finance Committee Approves $15 Million Budget, Raises PFAS and Snow Funding

REHOBOTH — April 29, 2026 — Rehoboth Finance Committee locked in its annual town meeting warrant recommendations, including a $15,073,790 operating budget and nearly $477,200 in snow deficit spending. Meeting April 29, the committee voted unanimously on all articles, raising the fiscal year 2026 PFAS remediation appropriation from $50,000 to $100,000 and funding a new $300,000 fiscal year 2027 PFAS account from free cash — with a consultant warning the work is "not a want or a need, it's a must" under DEP direction. The town has filed for more than $300,000 in FEMA reimbursement for this winter's historic snowfall, though officials said any federal relief could take up to a year. The committee also approved placing $150,000 in the capital stabilization fund, bringing that balance to roughly $1.4 million, and took no-recommendation positions on surplus equipment sales, Transfer Station operations, and PEG cable media spending. A combined town administrator and finance director position has been posted with resumes due May 15; all warrant recommendations are due to the town administrator by May 5, ahead of the June 2 annual town meeting.
