SBA Opens Disaster Loan Centers for Businesses Hurt by February Blizzard

The U.S. Small Business Administration has opened Business Recovery Centers across Southeastern Massachusetts, giving local businesses and nonprofits still feeling the effects of this winter's February blizzard a direct path to low-interest disaster loans.

TOWN HALL

The SBA's disaster assistance program, which became active June 18, is now accepting applications from businesses and private nonprofit organizations in the region that sustained losses during the February blizzard. Business Recovery Centers are staffed with specialists who can walk applicants through the loan process in person. The town's News Flash directs affected owners to visit https://www.nattleboro.com/CivicAlerts.aspx?aid=762 for full details on center locations and hours.

Also on the town's radar this week: Emergency Management Director Christopher Coleman and other officials have been circulating hurricane preparedness guidance as the Atlantic season gets underway, and the North Attleborough Cultural Council has announced its 2026 Summer Concert Series lineup. The town's "Celebrating Liberty's Legacy: 250 Years of Independence" commemoration calendar is also out, as is registration for the "Twice is Nice" 2.5- and 5-mile road race set for July 12.

Parents and caregivers should also note two active consumer alerts from the town's homepage: the Massachusetts Department of Public Health has flagged a nationwide recall of all lots of Nara Organics powdered infant formula, and Target's Up & Up baby wipes — both the Fragrance Free and Fresh Cucumber Scented varieties — have been recalled for potential microbial contamination. A separate DPH advisory warns of a Salmonella outbreak tied to recalled moringa leaf powder products and related dietary supplements.
