Select Board · Meeting of October 28, 2026
SEEKONK — The Seekonk Select Board approved a historic restructuring of the fire department's command system, extending conditional job offers to six new firefighter/paramedics and promoting five lieutenants to captain and four firefighters to lieutenant. Fire Chief Wayland said the changes establish, for the first time, a dedicated shift commander providing round-the-clock incident command, effective November 15. The board also swore in lateral-transfer Firefighter/Paramedic Wesley Meyer, a 23-year EMS veteran.
Separately, the board voted unanimously to adopt a town counsel response calling "frivolous" an Open Meeting Law complaint over an unposted September 18 DPW site tour by three members. Member Elizabeth Elmasian called the matter "a little troublesome on top of being frivolous." The board also closed a public hearing and approved the layout of Matts Way in the Brigham Farm III subdivision, and approved a Motor Vehicle Class II license for Drive-By Deals LLC.
