Water Board Appoints New Plant Supervisor
Water · Meeting of August 19, 2026
Somerset water board hires plant supervisor, settles $72,190 dam bill. The Board of Water and Sewer Commissioners unanimously appointed Theodore Small as maintenance supervisor at the Water Pollution Control Department and approved a $72,190.46 balancing change order with Park Corporation closing out engineering work on the Somerset Reservoir Dam Resiliency Improvements Project. The board tabled a Wright-Pierce engineering proposal for redesigning the wastewater treatment plant, still weighing a design-bid-build process against a design-build option that would need state inspector general approval, with the superintendent warning "the time is running out." Officials reported the reservoir about 45 inches low, 22 of 30 lead and copper household samples returned for testing, and nearly $300,000 in town special articles pending for pump upgrades at the aging Foley sewer station.
The board also formed a hiring committee for two vacant sewer collection technician positions and discussed restricting the boat ramp's 24-hour pump-out station to daylight hours.
