Westport CPC Approves FY27 Warrant Articles, Clears Procurement Rules for Private Projects

Westport's Community Preservation Committee approved FY27 town meeting funding and cleared new procurement rules at its February 12 remote meeting. Chair Betty Slade announced she will resign at the committee's July reorganization, when two new members are also expected to join. The committee voted unanimously to approve funding sources for the May 5 town warrant, to delegate town meeting handout authority to Slade and member Deborah Chialfi, and to pay $4,850 to American Legion Post 145 along with $534.50 in clerical expenses.

Slade reported that a roughly one-hour conversation with town official Chris Vitelli resolved longstanding questions about procurement for private-organization projects — including those involving the WYA and the American Legion — determining that prevailing wage requirements do not apply. On the Helen Hall renovation, member Tim Gillespie confirmed that contractor proposals under the $298,000 CPC allocation are due March 4 after all invited bidders expressed interest following a February 4 RFP.
