WESTPORT — The Westport Zoning Board of Appeals continued all four pending petitions Wednesday, citing the town's lack of a zoning administrator. Chair Roger Menard told applicants "we do not have a zoning administrator, so all four of these are going to be continued to a later date without discussion," pushing cases involving a firearm shop at 519 American Legion Highway, a surf therapy facility at 0 Main Road, a porch addition at 9 Great Neck Road, and an ADA restroom project at 488 Old County Road to November 18 and December 2. The board also debated, without voting, whether Town Planner Michael Burris should temporarily draft decisions, with one member warning it would get "really spaghetti" given the board's role hearing planning board appeals.
Another member said delays leave "town residents that are gonna have things gummed up because of something out of their control." Two applications were rejected as filed over invalid owner signatures, with Menard noting amendments would avoid an added $500 fee.
