Acushnet Conservation Commission Approves Contractor Yard on Middle Road

ACUSHNET — April 22, 2026 — Acushnet Conservation Commission approves order of conditions for contractor storage facility and sets October planting deadline for a resident under a gentleman's agreement. The commission voted unanimously April 22 to accept the order of conditions for Cristiano Eaton the Middle LLC's proposed single-story commercial storage building at zero Middle Road, after peer reviewer Merrill Engineering confirmed the applicant had addressed all required plan revisions, including a new containment berm and one-foot sump to manage potential hydraulic spills near a bordering vegetated wetland. The commission represented by engineer Steve Gioso of Site Tech Engineering then continued the MD South Coast Properties LLC hearing at 72 Middle Road — three duplexes with a buffer-zone detention pond — to May 13, with a site visit May 9, citing an incomplete peer review. At 185 Mattapoisett Road, the commission voted to schedule a May 13 public hearing on a proposed minor amendment involving a grass swale and stockade fence, after an abutter told members the swale "is really going to help relieve it for me" but argued it must be extended closer to the road. The commission also voted to retain a gentleman's agreement with a 324 Main Street property owner — who has removed 40 percent of wood chips and ground 15 stumps — but imposed an October deadline for full planting completion, with a formal enforcement order to follow if the deadline is missed.
