Celtics Legend Robert Parish Set for Attleboro Appearance This Week

Celtics Hall of Famer Robert Parish is set to make an appearance in Attleboro this week, according to Attleboro Patch. The Attleboro Public Library, meanwhile, opens a new Silent Book Club and prepares to host GBH News reporters gathering local story ideas, while five city boards meet between Tuesday and Thursday.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Attleboro Public Library launches a new Silent Book Club on Monday, Sept. 21, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Balfour Community Room. Participants read their own material quietly for the first hour before an open discussion at 7:30 p.m.; in-person registration is required, with 13 seats open as of Sept. 19, per the library's event calendar.

On Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 4 to 7 p.m., the library hosts a GBH News Community Listening Session in the Balfour Community Room, giving residents a chance to meet a reporter and share which local stories and issues matter to them.

Monday, Sept. 21: The library's Monthly Hackathon runs 6 to 8 p.m. in the Tech Lab, open to adults interested in software and creative-writing-style meetups. City Social Worker Jessica Spence, LICSW, holds drop-in hours 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. in the Tech Lab, a schedule she repeats Wednesday, Sept. 23.

Tuesday, Sept. 22: The Licensing Board meets at noon; the School Committee's Infrastructure and Facilities Subcommittee meets at 6:30 p.m. at Hyman Fine Library; and the Municipal Council holds a special and committee meeting at 7 p.m. at 77 Park St.

Wednesday, Sept. 23: The Attleboro Retirement Board meets at 9 a.m. in the City Council Annex Room at 77 Park St. In the evening, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., the library's HOPE program hosts "Forage with Friends," a session on identifying local plants, in the Tech Lab.

Thursday, Sept. 24: The Zoning Board of Appeals meets at 6:30 p.m. at 77 Park St. The library's All Ages Chess Club meets 6 to 8 p.m. in the Children's Room.
