Select Board · Meeting of October 28, 2026

Dighton's Board of Selectmen approved fee increases for trash bags, Board of Health permits and cemetery lots, and laid out the timeline for a school building debt exclusion vote. Board of Health Agent Liz Morin said the town's trash bag program runs a $67,000 deficit that would shrink to roughly $30,000 under new rates of $30 for large bags and $15 for small bags. Town Administrator Ralph said the Massachusetts School Building Authority approved the preferred schematic design for Dighton's elementary school project the same day as the meeting, and that the board will vote November 18 on placing a debt exclusion on the ballot, with a two-thirds town meeting appropriation vote planned for April 8.

"It's not up to the selectmen. It's up to you to place it on the ballot," one board member said. The board also approved updated snowplow contractor rates, including an increase from $115 to $140 per hour for six-wheel medium-duty trucks, and a Cannabis Control Equity Plan required under state law.
