Dighton Assessors Approve $191,000 Sewer Commitment, Move to Executive Session
DIGHTON — March 11, 2026 — Dighton Board of Assessors approved more than $196,000 in tax lists and sewer commitments at its March 11 meeting. The board signed two motor vehicle and trailer excise lists for levy year 2026 totaling $5,880.80 and cleared abatements for levy years 2023 and 2025. A second-half FY2026 sewer billing commitment of $191,084.15 was briefly tabled after members received two sheets showing conflicting totals; a call to billing staff Diane and Stephanie clarified the sheets were additive, not duplicative, covering North Dighton non-resident accounts that had been missed in an earlier posting run. A separate question about why Aquaria's sewer bill rose from roughly $6,000 to $10,000 was explained as the result of uneven discharge months. The board closed open session with an unresolved question about whether the town has formally adopted a cost-of-living adjustment clause for the disabled veterans trust exemption, which members said may need to go to town meeting if not already enacted.
