Somerset-Berkeley School Committee Approves $22.5 Million Preliminary FY27 Budget Unanimously

SOMERSET — March 12, 2026 — Somerset-Berkeley Regional School Committee unanimously approved a $22.5 million preliminary budget for the 2026-2027 school year at its March 12 Zoom meeting. The committee voted 6-0 to adopt a preliminary spending figure of $22,555,875, which represents a gross year-over-year increase of 2.61 percent, offset by anticipated revenue growth to a net increase of 1.82 percent. Chief Financial Officer Raquel Pellerin noted that final health care cost figures are expected within weeks and that the governor's budget remains subject to change — both factors that could shift the final number. The final budget, which requires a two-thirds supermajority vote, must be adopted by March 31, following a public hearing set for March 16 at 6 p.m. at the Somerset-Berkeley Regional High School Library.
