Other Committee · Meeting of July 22, 2026
Dighton Board of Assessors approved a $70,000-$85,000 salary range for a new Principal Assessor position and voted to forward the job posting to the Select Board. The board, meeting July 22, settled on a 40-hour week after reviewing comparable salaries from neighboring towns, including Berkeley at roughly $67,500 for 32 hours and Swansea at approximately $100,000. Candidates will be required to complete Massachusetts Assessors Institute Course 101 and Course 200 within six months of appointment.
The board also cleared three motor vehicle and excise tax commitments totaling more than $81,500, including a third motor vehicle excise commitment of $78,829.83 for fiscal year 2026. Separately, members reported that a delinquent taxpayer in a months-long dispute had finally submitted payment, and that the town's Appellate Tax Board proceeding remains without legal representation or a scheduled hearing date.
