Dighton Library Unveils New Programs as Boards Meet Wednesday

DIGHTON — The Dighton Public Library is rolling out several new fall programs this week, including a Choose Your Own Adventure book club for its Homeschool Group, while the Board of Selectmen, Finance Committee and North Dighton Fire District Prudential Committee all hold meetings on the same night, Wednesday, Sept. 23.

The library's Homeschool Group is starting a new Choose Your Own Adventure Book Club this Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 1 p.m. Miss Lorie will read a Choose Your Own Adventure book aloud while children vote on which path the story takes, followed by a related project or craft. The same evening, the library hosts Teen Movie Night at 6 p.m., screening the PG-13 film "Anaconda" for ages 13 to 18, with snacks and drinks provided and no registration required.

The library is also adding a new beginner yoga session Thursday, Sept. 24, from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. at Old Town Hall, led by Lauren of "No Place Like OM." Registration is required by calling the library. Mah Jongg Club lessons are returning this month for anyone who wants to learn the game, meeting Thursdays at the library.

The Dighton Public Library holds Tot Time for children under 3 on Monday, Sept. 21, and Tuesday, Sept. 22, both from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., with Story Time for older kids following Thursday, Sept. 24, at 1 p.m. The Friends of the Dighton Public Library meet Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 4:30 p.m., and the library's Traveling Book Club meets Thursday, Sept. 24, at 6 p.m. A separate Free Community Yoga session is offered at Old Town Hall on Thursday, Sept. 24, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The Nonfiction Club meets Saturday, Sept. 26, at noon to discuss "Guns, Germs, and Steel."

On the municipal side, the Board of Selectmen and the Finance Committee both meet Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 6 p.m., and the North Dighton Fire District Prudential Committee meets that same day at 10 a.m.
