Fall River Public Library Launches Summer Hours, Adds Salem and Rhode Island Museum Passes

FALL RIVER — The Fall River Public Library is the day's lead story on a quiet Thursday, rolling out its summer schedule and a batch of new free resources for cardholders just as the season officially kicks in.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

With mid-June here, the library has switched to summer hours effective this week and running through Labor Day: Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday service is suspended for the summer. The library is located at 104 North Main Street.

Two new venues join the library's free and reduced-rate museum pass program: the Norman Bird Sanctuary in Middletown, R.I., and the House of Seven Gables in Salem. Passes can be reserved online through the library's Museum Passes page.

On the digital side, cardholders can now access Transparent Language, a free online language-learning tool, through the library's research databases. The library has also added online access to the Fall River Herald News archive covering 1926 through 1979, expanding its growing local history collection that already includes historical maps, yearbooks, and city directories.
