Finance Committee Seats Cabral, OKs July Minutes
Finance Committee · Meeting of September 8, 2026
Westport Finance Committee presses for ambulance fee collection and seats a new member. Chair Karen Raus said she will raise unpaid ambulance bills directly with the fire chief after member Nancy Stanton Cross said uncollected fees have run into six figures in past years, calling it "not nothing" and noting "every town and city that I know uses collections for ambulances." Member Al Lees called for a formal, Select Board-adopted write-off policy covering both fire and harbormaster fees. The committee voted 5-0 to approve its July 14 minutes and appointed newest member Gloria Cabral, who replaced resigned member Duncan Law, as its representative to the Infrastructure Oversight Committee.
Members also criticized this year's Annual Town Meeting warrant format and voted 6-0 to adjourn.
