Mansfield Water Restrictions Stay in Effect as Town Manager Seeks Budget Input
Mansfield remains under mandatory Phase III outdoor water restrictions imposed in June, while the Town Manager is inviting residents to weigh in on the town budget through a new series of community focus groups.
TOWN HALL
The town's most pressing ongoing issue remains water use: Mansfield shifted to Phase III mandatory outdoor water restrictions effective June 10, and the restrictions remain active, with the town urging residents to water lawns and gardens only during the designated days and times. A West Street water main break was also reported, though town officials indicate service has since been restored.
Separately, the Town Manager is launching a series of community focus groups this summer to collect resident feedback on town priorities and the upcoming budget plan. The town has also published its July 2026 newsletter, featuring updates from departments, boards, and committees, and residents should be on the lookout for a mailing from the Board of Registrars. The town's Information Technologies office also circulated its latest cybersecurity communication, walking through a recent scam scenario as part of an ongoing public-awareness effort.
Several boards meet this week: the Select Board and Planning Board convene Wednesday, July 8, followed by the Finance Committee on Thursday, July 9.
SCHOOLS
Mansfield Public Schools' district calendar shows Safety Town programming at Brinkerhoff scheduled for July 10 and July 17, running from 8 a.m. to noon each day. The district's broader open-house schedule for the new school year is already taking shape, with Senior High, Middle School, and elementary open houses set for mid-August.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Mansfield Public Library's calendar is active this week, with "Window to the Wild" programming at the MAC and a Loop Group session for adults 18 and older both set for Wednesday, July 8, alongside the MPL Teen Collective for ages 13-17. The Library Advisory Board also meets that day. On Thursday, July 9, the library hosts "Tales for Tails" for all ages, a Fancy Nancy Tea Party for children ages 5 to 12, and a Yoga for Adults session.
