North Attleborough Reopens Falls, Whitings Ponds After Bacteria Clears

NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH — North Attleborough's Health Department reopened Falls Pond and Whitings Pond on Aug. 23 after water testing showed bacteria levels had returned to safe limits, ending a summer closure that had kept swimmers out of both spots.

The Health Department posted the reopening notice to the town's News Flash page, reporting that bacteria readings at Falls Pond and Whitings Pond are back within safe levels. The department did not specify how long the closure had lasted before this week's testing cleared both ponds for swimming.

COMING UP

Town boards have a full slate of public meetings this week. The Board of Assessors, the Licensing Board and the Town Council each meet Monday, Aug. 24. The Conservation Commission meets Tuesday, Aug. 25. The Finance Sub-Committee and the Board of Public Works both meet Wednesday, Aug. 26.
