Rehoboth School Committee Sets June 26 as Final Student Day After Blizzard Waivers

REHOBOTH — April 1, 2026 — Rehoboth School Committee unanimously approves June 26 as the last day of school following a state waiver tied to this winter's historic snowfall. At a special April 1 meeting at the Harrington Library Media Center, Superintendent Rooney told the committee that the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education cleared the district to shorten its calendar provided that previously scheduled early release days on April 8 and June 26 are converted to full instructional days. The adjustment leaves both the Teachers Association and Paraprofessional Association approximately 10 hours short of their CBA requirements; Rooney said she has spoken with union presidents Mr. Patrick and Dana Rose and will bring any resulting memoranda of understanding back to the committee for a separate vote. The committee also voted unanimously to adopt policy IHAI-E on second reading, governing admissions to the district's Career and Technical Education programs, before entering executive session to discuss pending litigation.
