School Committee Adopts New Civil-Arrest Policy
School Committee · Meeting of September 11, 2026
North Attleborough schools adopt policy barring civil immigration arrests on campus. The School Committee voted unanimously for Policy ACL, responding to the "Protect Act" Gov. Maura Healey signed August 5, with a district administrator saying, "we don't do anything until legal counsel gives us the go-ahead." Members also approved a 2028 Portugal trip for juniors and seniors 6-0, accepted a $2,000 North Attleborough-Plainville Rotary Club donation to launch an Interact Club, and created a new transportation revolving account holding roughly $200,000.
Facilities Director Christopher Murphy estimated new windows at the AMVET school would cost $1.5 million to $1.8 million. The new high school project remains on schedule, with crews drilling 85 geothermal wells 850 feet deep.
