Acushnet Select Board Hires Health Agent, Awards Golf Course OPM to RTA

ACUSHNET — July 15, 2026 — Acushnet Select Board fills health agent vacancy, awards golf clubhouse OPM contract, and approves year-end transfers topping $420,000. The board voted unanimously July 15 to hire Jennifer Galey as health agent at $78,000 per year, citing her credentials as a Massachusetts soil evaluator, Title 5 inspector, OSHA-certified professional, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers construction quality manager. The board also accepted, with regret, the resignation of longtime public servant Robert St. Jean from the Finance Committee. Owner's project manager services for the Acushnet River Valley Golf Course clubhouse project were awarded to RTA, whose co-principal pledged to the board: "I'm making that pledge — we exceed what we typically do on a project." The board accepted $156,971 in state Winter Recovery Assistance Program funding to offset a snow-and-ice deficit exceeding $400,000, and approved Hamlin Street and Morningside Drive as priority paving reclamation projects against a Chapter 90 balance of roughly $1.15 million, with a target completion before November 1.
