Council Votes 9-0 For Closed-Door Health Insurance Session

Attleboro council enters closed session on health insurance bargaining strategy, clears backlog of routine business. Council President Todd Cobus and eight fellow councilors voted 9-0, with Tavares and Angelo absent, to suspend the rules and enter executive session under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 30A for "strategy with respect to collective bargaining concerning the proposed health insurance changes." Back in open session, the council authorized the school department to pay $35,472.59 in previous-year bills, accepted a $10,500 donation of 70 "Wicked" tickets from the Rodman Center, and set an October 20 public hearing on the fiscal 2027 tax classification after Councilor D'Alicio asked, "wasn't that removed from finance and economic development tax classification?" Councilors Waterman and Cobus also won unanimous approval to flip stop sign orientation at Benefit and Oak streets after consulting Chief Agnew, assigning the fix to the Traffic and Transportation Committee.
