Dighton Open Space Committee Unanimously Backs Lawyer for Committee Seat

DIGHTON — January 22, 2026 — Dighton Open Space Committee votes 3-0 to recommend Kenneth Fredette for membership, pending Select Board confirmation. Chairperson Jonathan Gale called the special Zoom session Thursday to consider Fredette's application; committee clerk Danica Belknap and former selectman Leonard Hull joined Gale in the unanimous roll-call vote. Fredette, a 33-year Dighton resident, has worked as assistant corporation counsel for Fall River since 2004 following a 31-year criminal defense career. Members cited his experience with land trust preservation work in Fall River as particularly valuable, given the committee's stated goal of establishing a municipal land trust to protect Dighton's undeveloped land from increasing development pressure. Fredette is expected to appear before the Select Board at its January 28 meeting for final confirmation.
