Dartmouth Select Board Approves Four Conservation Restrictions, Dozens of Other Actions

Dartmouth Select Board approves four conservation restrictions totaling more than 37 acres and a raft of additional actions. Meeting via Zoom due to a winter storm, the four-member board — Chair Heidi Silva Brooks, Vice Chair Stanley Mickelson, Shawn McDonald, and Christopher O'Neil, with David Tatelbaum absent — voted 4-0 on each of the four restrictions brought by the Buzzards Bay Coalition, covering parcels on Barneys Joy Road, Tucker Road, and Little River Road. The board also voted 4-0 to support a $511,000 exterior repair of the old Town Hall at 247 Russells Mills Road, with $460,000 sought from the Community Preservation Committee, and approved an amendment to Deputy Police Chief Victor Morency's contract allowing him to work private duty details.

Acting Administrator of Assessing Jessica Pacheco reported that the FY27 estimated tax levy stands at $84,543,475 and that approximately 450 commercial property owners failed to return Income and Expense forms last year; the Board of Assessors has voted to begin enforcing the existing $250 fine for noncompliance, and the Select Board discussed withholding town-issued licenses from businesses that remain noncompliant.
