Easton Planning Board Advances Eastman Street Storage Facility, Approves ADU Permit

EASTON — May 11, 2026 — Easton Planning Board unanimously advanced a proposed self-storage facility and approved an accessory dwelling unit expansion at its May 11 remote meeting. The board voted 4-0 to continue a public hearing to May 26 on Ironwood Acquisitions LLC's application for a special permit and site plan approval to build a three-story climate-controlled self-storage building and a one-story accessory structure on three parcels at 19, 23, and 27 Eastman Street in the Furnace Village district — a project that won Zoning Board of Appeals dimensional variances in December 2025. Outstanding items include peer review responses on stormwater, a photometric lighting plan, signage locations, and a parking adequacy finding after the board determined the standard warehouse ratio of one space per 1,000 square feet would require a plainly inapplicable 126 spaces for the single-employee facility. The board also voted 4-0 to grant a special permit allowing Teresa Glenn to expand an existing accessory dwelling unit at 154 Highland Street from 616 to 1,138 square feet by enclosing an attached garage bay, conditioned on widening a doorway to 48 inches to address a Board of Health septic capacity concern. In a separate action, the board amended a Sedino Way subdivision covenant to delete a construction-prohibition clause, allowing owner Richard Fedorov to pull a full building permit while remaining barred from selling the lot until the private driveway is complete.
