FREETOWN — June 29, 2026 — Freetown Select Board approves municipal complex site study, license plate readers, and budget software in marathon session. The board unanimously approved a $214,495 contract with River Hawk Environmental for feasibility and permit-ready design work at a proposed municipal complex site across from the town's elementary school, calling the engagement the essential first step on a parcel complicated by wetlands and endangered-species habitat. The board also voted to allow Flock Safety to install automated license plate reader cameras at High Street, Bell Rock Road, and Copacut Road on behalf of the city of Fall River, with Chair Craig Zaga saying he had investigated constitutionality concerns before concluding the technology is legally equivalent to a doorbell camera on a public street.
