NORTON — June 2, 2026 — Norton Planning Board votes unanimously on four applications, gives tow yard owner until August to comply. The board, meeting June 2 with five of its seven members, approved a lot division at 93 Mansfield Avenue for 93 Mansfield Land Holdings, LLC; cleared a redesigned two-story building for Old Colony Realty, Inc. at 416 Old Colony Road, shifting the project from a two-tenant one-story commercial structure to a single-tenant building for electrical contractor GH Electric; and granted a special permit for a 2-by-6-foot electronic message center at Michelle's Corner Store, 325 West Main Street, contingent on manufacturer documentation of automatic brightness controls. The board continued site plan review for Jamiro Castillo's tow yard at 1 Dean Street to August 4, directing Castillo to hire an engineer and notify staff within one to two weeks, after two neighbors testified about around-the-clock operations, trucks blocking the roadway, and safety concerns. "We could vote no on this and shut you down right now," the chair told Castillo. "None of us want to do that." The board also refunded a $300 application fee for a withdrawn project at Zero Leonard Street and canceled its July 21 meeting due to the chair's absence and a current vacancy on the seven-member board.
