Fall River's new Ad Hoc School Transportation Committee voted 5-0 to direct corporation counsel to respond to residents over a hazardous border road used by school buses. Kevin Aguiar was elected chair, 3-2, over fellow member Andrew Raposo. Resident Mallory Kliknowski said "the city cannot own our streets in fee simple to collect our property taxes while simultaneously claiming it has no right to fix the single door that leads into the layout," referring to Arruda's Lane, which crosses into Tiverton, Rhode Island.
School officials presented a $17,062,260 fiscal 2027 transportation budget, including $9,076,351 for special education and $3,566,652 for homeless-student transportation, up from $2,067,000 last year. Councilor Shawn E. Cadime said a $300,000 gap tied to Argosy Collegiate Charter School's yellow-bus service "isn't short change." The committee scheduled its next meeting for December 10.
