Rehoboth Conservation Commission Accepts Pine Street Parcel, Orders Wetland Restoration at Star Lane

REHOBOTH — May 12, 2026 — Rehoboth Conservation Commission accepts a 25-acre Pine Street donation and sets a June 7 wetland restoration deadline at Star Lane. The commission unanimously voted to accept a parcel donation at 94 Pine Street from John Ferreira, comprising roughly 25 acres including approximately 8 acres of wetlands in a state-designated priority habitat for blue-spotted salamanders; the transfer still requires a town counsel title review. The board also tabled to May 26 a decision on whether to recommend the town exercise its right of first refusal on 23 acres at 208 Chestnut Street, listed at $100,000, after the property owner could not attend with an ASL interpreter. At 30 Star Lane, commission chair Bob Matern directed homeowners Mila Vashtimolesky and Jeff Leveron — who had cleared wetland shrubs past their limit of disturbance without filing — to reinstall erosion controls, remove jute matting from the resource area, and submit a public shrub-restoration plan by June 7, with commission member Matt Kershaw agreeing to guide plant species selection on site. Four NOI hearings were closed and orders of conditions issued, including for a new single-family home at 28 Buckland Drive and an amended NOI for an accessory building at 9 Linden Lane, sited 17 feet from vegetated wetlands.
