School Committee · Meeting of October 21, 2026

Taunton School Committee approved up to $45,000 for a van for its alternative high school program. Principal Kevin Avatable presented a three-year plan to turn the credit recovery school into a project-based, school-to-work program with internships and capstones. Superintendent Cabral said the bank earmark could cover the van if appropriated funds were not used.

Dr. DeMello opposed the van, saying she would be "the first one to drive that bus" if money allowed it for all 300 internship students. The committee approved the motion on a roll call announced as 6-2.
