Taunton School Committee Recognizes Students and Staff Across Seven Schools

TAUNTON — February 11, 2026 — Taunton School Committee held its annual Student Recognition Night on February 11, honoring dozens of students and staff from seven schools across the district. Mayor Shauna O'Connell, Superintendent Cabral, and committee members recognized honorees ranging from Bennett Elementary third graders celebrated for peer empathy to Taunton Alternative High School senior David Frazzetti, named the top academic student in the class of 2026 and recipient of the Francis Galashaw Memorial Scholarship for Student Leadership. Martin Middle School Principal Jamie Pereira singled out speech and debate advisor Ian Daly, whose program she described as placing Martin among "the only schools to have a speech and debate team in southeastern Massachusetts," with students regularly defeating competitors from prestigious private institutions. CTE co-curriculum supervisor Darla Hartung recognized construction craft laborer instructor Eric Turgeon and four CCL seniors, noting that the program — now in its third year under Chapter 74 state approval — has a $1.5 million expansion grant application pending, with results expected as soon as next month.
