Acushnet Planning Board Endorses Main Street Lot Consolidation for Animal Hospital Site

ACUSHNET — June 18, 2026 — Acushnet Planning Board unanimously endorses lot line adjustment at former Main Street animal hospital. The board voted 3-0 Thursday to approve an Approval Not Required plan transferring 15,046 square feet from Lot 139B at 265 Main Street — the site of a former animal hospital purchased by Liberio Soares — into his adjacent Lot 139D at 255 Main Street, creating two conforming parcels of 45,000 and 76,296 square feet in the Business Village District. Surveyor John Romanelli of Zenith Land Surveyors, LLC, told the board the hospital has an interested buyer who plans to continue its use, and confirmed all setbacks and septic systems meet zoning requirements after the reconfiguration. The plan includes a temporary access easement allowing the buyer roughly one to two years to reconfigure the animal hospital's parking lot, currently encroaching onto the Soares parcel, and calls for relocating a shed that straddles the new lot line. Romanelli also flagged a previously approved ANR plan for the Ramirez family on Perry Hill and Mendel Road that will return to the board July 2 with a revised layout after field staking revealed an unsatisfactory configuration.
