Dighton Select Board approves budget recommendations, tables library and firefighter MOA

DIGHTON — March 25, 2026 — Dighton Select Board approved budget recommendations across more than a dozen departments and tabled action on the town library budget and a firefighters' memorandum of agreement at its March 25 meeting. The board set the highway department at $826,581.68, the retirement and pension account at $1,227,490, and liability insurance at $280,039.20, among other lines. Members voted to zero out the town historian account, Department 690, after noting the position had historically not spent its allocation. The library budget, Department 610, and the firefighters' MOA were both tabled without a stated return date, leaving two significant items unresolved ahead of Town Meeting. The board also accepted facilities requests for the Dighton Historical Society's ninth annual Strawberry Festival, the Vietnam Veterans Association, and the Lions Club, and acknowledged the retirement of Phyllis Haskell, who joined the Dighton Public Library staff in September 1999.
