Planning Board · Meeting of October 20, 2026
Somerset Planning Board approved a stormwater permit for a proposed Taco Bell at 721 GAR Highway and granted two related waivers. Engineer Nicole Duquette of McClure Engineering Company presented the plan for applicant DDO New England; Clerk Lloyd Mendes said "because I have such confidence in Rue, I'm going to propose Rue's conditions as our conditions," referring to peer reviewer Rue Associates. The board separately spent much of the meeting on Humphreys Landing, where resident Christopher Vachon said the developer "has never maintained it, never plows" the subdivision road in five years, and said "I want to make sure that they have safe access to the road." Members discussed using an $80,000 performance bond to pay for emergency plowing but took no vote, instead referring the question to town counsel.
The board also accepted its September 22 minutes, three in favor with two abstentions, and withdrew a proposed $175 training-fund motion after member Nicole McDonald objected that the session had no confirmed date or topic.
