School Committee accepts $1.47M in grants

Easton School Committee accepts $1.47 million in grants, flags a ceiling issue at Richardson Olmsted School. Members unanimously approved federal entitlement awards totaling $1,270,887, down $203,477 from last year, plus a $120,000 early college grant with Quincy College and a $25,000 teacher-apprenticeship planning grant. Director of Facilities Tony Copaz reported a 12-year-old ceiling defect near a temporary entrance, with Superintendent Dr.

Pruitt telling members "the area has been reviewed and deemed completely safe," though repairs could run $20,000 to $40,000. The committee also approved a $9,892,736.80 year-end budget reconciliation spanning roughly 600 line items and a three-year, $87,750 IXL software renewal. Director of Human Resources Christina DiNapoli reported 33 new hires and 16 departures since July 1.
