Acushnet Board of Health conditions septic approval on four-bedroom deed restriction
ACUSHNET — March 10, 2026 — Acushnet Board of Health tied a new-home septic permit to a deed restriction and conditionally cleared a stalled property closing at its March 10 meeting. Chair David Davignon, Vice Chair Thomas Fortin, and Member Robert Medeiros voted unanimously to approve a four-bedroom septic design for a Seaport Realty lot, but conditioned the permit and certificate of occupancy on the applicant recording a deed restriction capping the home at four bedrooms — prompted by a large bonus room above the garage that board members said could easily become a fifth. The board also waived a Title 5 inspection for George and Susan Cunha of 16 Bridge Street, who are adding roughly 480 square feet to reconfigure existing undersized bedrooms without increasing bedroom count. On a third matter, engineer Peter Cruz of CAP Engineering Solutions asked for conditional approval of an as-built septic system at 233 Dann Road with a property closing set for March 13; the board agreed, but required a licensed land surveyor's certification and a PE sign-off on Title 5 compliance before issuing the COC. "If it's not there and we sign off, we're in big trouble — we've been sued already," Medeiros said. The board then entered executive session on non-union personnel and staffing.
