Health Board Approves Mount Pleasant Septic Repair
Board of Health · Meeting of September 28, 2026
Westport Board of Health approves conditional septic repair despite nitrate concerns on a tiny lot. The board, operating with one member absent, voted 2-0 to approve a two-bedroom Presby system repair at 7 Mount Pleasant Street for FR Builders after engineer George Ayoub presented a design using "alternative Presby advanced system that save 50 percent of the area of the leaching." Board member Phil argued the rebuild, on a vacant lot sitting idle for a decade, "I would consider new construction," flagging a 5.7 nitrate reading in the site well against the board's threshold of 5. The board attached three years of mandatory well testing and reserved the right to require nitrogen-reduction technology if levels keep rising.
Separately, the board approved six routine septic plans by the same 2-0 margin and moved its October 12 meeting to October 26 because it falls on Columbus Day.
