Board of Health Splits 2-1 on Septic Order
Board of Health · Meeting of September 22, 2026
Acushnet Board of Health splits 2-1 over a stalled Carol Street septic repair. Chair David Davignon pushed to hold the property owner accountable for months of delay despite roughly 20 deficiencies in an engineer's plan, while a dissenting member argued fault lay with the engineer, not the homeowner. The board gave the owner until Oct. 13 to submit an approvable plan or face daily fines.
Health Agent Jennifer Gailey reported Golden Liquors, at 142 South Main Street, received an FDA warning letter for selling cigars to a minor on May 29, with no fine issued. The board also swore in Mark Galan as the region's new tobacco compliance officer and confirmed all eight town tobacco permit holders removed kratom products after an August order. "Tobacco compliance is something that's very near and dear to my heart," Galan said.
