Rehoboth Panel Approves Five Wetland Permits

Conservation Commission · Meeting of September 22, 2026

Rehoboth Conservation Commission approves five wetland permits, splits on trail-survey bidders. The board unanimously issued orders of conditions for new or revised construction on Wheeler, Winthrop and other streets, and formally rescinded then reissued an order for 48 Winthrop Street after discovering it had closed that hearing without a valid state tracking number. At 67 Wheeler Street, abutters Nicholas and Ashley Turgeon pressed engineer Mark Mariano of Oak Hill Engineering over a stormwater drain crossing their property near a proposed well, calling it "our drain" by longstanding verbal agreement with prior owner Mary Goldberg; the board said the boundary dispute was a civil matter outside its authority.

Commission member Tom disclosed a decades-old prior job with engineering firm PAR, which bid $44,000 for a Savoy Conservation Area trail survey against a roughly $19,900 bid from a rival firm; members voted to interview both before deciding. Commission member Bob rejected one applicant's riparian-zone filing, saying any wetland-buffer taking "requires an alternative analysis."
