Conservation Panel Toughens Hearing Rules
Conservation Commission · Meeting of September 8, 2026
Rehoboth Conservation Commission bars incomplete plans from closing hearings, under pressure from town counsel. Commission Chairman Bob told applicants the board met with selectmen and the town's attorney on August 31 after counsel raised litigation concerns, and will now continue any hearing with inaccurate paperwork rather than close it. The board unanimously approved a negative determination for 6 Buckland Drive and an order of conditions for 19 Buckland Drive, while continuing applications at 29 Molten Street and 77 Summer Street to September 22.
Commissioners also voted unanimously to waive a wetland-delineation study and a $750 filing fee for the Rehoboth Land Trust's grant-funded culvert restoration at 80 Mason Street, with clerk Dan Lanier telling the board, "We're really proud of this property." The state later said nonprofit fee waivers aren't allowed, so the trust will get a refund instead.
